What is Connecting
Classrooms?
• A global programme that creates partnerships
between clusters of schools in the UK and
around the world.
• It brings an international dimension to young
people’s learning.
• Aims to improve their knowledge and
understanding of other cultures and prepare
them for life and work as global citizens.
• Connecting Classrooms partnerships are
supported by local authorities in the UK.
• Lasts two to three years.
• Participating schools and co-ordinating bodies
Schools involved in Connecting
Classrooms
• work with partner schools on collaborative
curriculum projects
• receive professional development for
teachers and school leaders, which builds
capacity to support international partnerships
and to lead the school in an international
environment.
• are eligible for International School Award
accreditation, which recognises the school’s
commitment to forming international
partnerships and developing global citizens.
Upcoming Regions for Partnerships
• Near East and North Africa – looking for
partnerships with Algeria, Egypt, Libya,
Morocco, Syria and Tunisia
• Latin America and the Caribbean – looking
for partnerships with Mexico, Trinidad and
Tobago, Jamaica, Venezuela and Cuba. (Brazil
later in the year)
• Deadline for all of these is August 28th
