Knights

Matthew Trammell Dylan Eddings Seth Moore Trevor Boyd Duston Savage

The purpose of a knight is to protect the lord or king he serves. The knights served their lord and the lords serverved there king. The knight would be around castles, manors or fighting for his lord and the king during the time of war. The boys who were trained as knights were generally the sons of knights or lords. At 7 years old the boy would go to a knights household where he serves as a page. He was basically a servant for the knight, performing such tasks as serving meals, cleaning his clothes, and carrying

messages. The page also began to train to fight. Around the age of 15, the page would become a squire. He would have to take care of knights horses, clean his armour and weapons, and accompany the knight to the battlefield. Squires were trained with real weapons and were taught fighting skills by the knight. Once a squire had proven his bravery and skill in battle, he would then become a knight at the age of 21. Another way a soldier could become a knight is if a soldier fought particularly bravely during a battle of war.
