Yazdnism

The yellow sun with 21 rays. The number 21 holds great importance in the ancient religious practice of Yazdnism. The yellow sun is the main symbol of the Yazidis.

BELIEVINGS
Yazidis believe in only one God, who created the world and entrusted it into the care of a Heptad (seven holy Beings), often known as archangels. The first archangel, named Taws Melek, is in other religions (Islam, Cristianity) the same as Shaitan/Satan. The biggest different in the religions is, that Yasidis believe that T. Melek is NOT the source of evil or wickedness. They venerate him as the highest archangel. They are not allowed to say Satan/Shaitan to him. Yazidis belive they are descended only from Adam NOT from Eva.

History
The Yazidisem has Iranian roots. The Yazidisem is a Kurdish religious group, they are mostly living in northern Iraq. They are mixed up of: Sufi, Islam, old Persian religion, Christianity, old Natureworship and others.

HOLY BOOK
Book of Revelation (Kitba Cilwe) Black Book (Mishefa Re). They have many songs and stories but very little in written form.

RULES!!!
They have very! strict social rules. It is not allowed to marry someone from another Religion. You can not convert to Yazidism. You need to be born in this religion.

WHERE AND HOW THEY PRAY

When the Yazidis pray they need to face toward the Sun. They pray 5 times a day, and are not allowed to pray when outsiders are around them. The most important festival is the Cejna Cemaiya (Fest of the Assembly = 23.9. 01.10.) The most important ritual is the annual seven day pilgrimate to the tomb of Sheikh adi ibn in Lalish, north Mosual, Iraq. Once a live you should go there.
