MegaStat Quick Reference Guide

What Is MegaStat?
MegaStat is an Excel add-in that performs statistical analysis within an Excel workbook. After it is installed, it appears on the Excel menu and works like Edit, View, or any of the other Excel options. MegaStat contains options to perform most of the calculations described in an introductory business statistics course. When you click on MegaStat its main menu appears. Most of the options contain submenus. If the menu item is followed by periods, i.e., . . . , clicking on that item will display a dialogue box. If the menu item contains the symbol additional submenu items are available. Below is the screen if you select MegaStat and then Probability.

How MegaStat Works

Most MegaStat input is from dialogue boxes. For example, if you selected MegaStat, Frequency Distributions, and Quantitative you will see the following dialogue box. The dialogue boxes allow you to specify the data cells for the procedure and to specify options. All dialogue boxes have a Help button that will provide more information about the procedure. When the required information has been provided, click OK to perform the procedure.

Most dialogue boxes require you to specify the data for the procedure. This can be done in one of several ways: 1. 2. 3. 4. Pointing and dragging with the mouse. This is the easiest and most common method. Typing the name of the named data range. Typing the range address. Using Ctrl, Shift, and Arrow keystroke combinations.

For most procedures, the first cell in each input range is the label. If the first cell in a range is text, it is considered a label; if it is a numeric value, it is considered data.

MegaStat Output
MegaStat output is placed in a worksheet titled Output. If there is an existing Output sheet, the new output is placed at the end. The MegaStat output is in the standard Excel format, so you may insert, modify, or delete any cells. You can copy all or part of the output to another worksheet or to a word processing application.

Help Is Always Available

Most of the dialogue boxes are self-explanatory, but if you need more information, click on Help and browse the Help contents.
