Our Solar System

The planets within our solar system are known as; Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Pluto was once known as the smallest planet and most furthest away in our solar system however it is no longer deemed a planet due to the definition of planet changing therefore it is not seen as part of our solar system. A common misconception among people is that the sun is also a planet however it is in fact a star. The sun provides earth with everything it needs to survive and without it not only would our planet die out but the people and animals would as well. It takes earth 24 hours to complete an entire spin on its axis this creates what is known to us as one day. The moon is then also orbiting around Earth, this takes approximately 27 days; almost 1 month. Whilst all of this is happening the earth is also orbiting the sun, this takes 12 months which is 1 year on earth.

Moon Did you know?? Earth 1million Earths could fit into the sun Did you know?? The Sun is 93million miles from earth

Sun Without the sun there would be no: - There would be no source of natural light - No heat therefore no temperature change - Without temperature change seasons would cease to exist - It would be impossible to see the moon as its light is a reflection form the sun - There would be no rain in order for there to be rain the sun must shine to create heat heat warms the air hot air rises creating a low pressure system the higher the air rises the more the air begins to cool cold air creates condensation leading to clouds and eventually rainfall - Without rain plants will begin to die creating a loss of food and also putting a stop to the carbon cycle until eventually there would be no more oxygen - There would be no wind

Did you know?? Earth has a 12,756km diameter
