Selling socks at the swap meet M

y dad raised me and my brother Dave by himself. He owned a small business but we didnt have a lot of money. I learned the value of hard work early. Working with my father Every weekend, we worked at the local swap meet, getting up early to set up the tables and putting in a full days work. During high school I followed my dads example and started my own business selling ice cream at fairs and festivals all over the state. Opportunity for all I took these life lessons and worked my way through college and law school. Today I serve on the King County Council. King County must be a place of opportunity for future generations to succeed. Im working every day to ensure that everyone has that opportunity.

Selling socks with my father at the swap meet taught me the values I still hold today.

Work hard. Play by the rules. Help others move up the ladder of opportunity.
Im working hard to ensure everyone in King County has the opportunity to succeed.
