FOOD CHAIN

Importance of food chain A food chain shows how energy is transferred from one living organism to another via food. It is important for us to understand how the food chain works so that we know what are the important living organisms that make up the food chain and how the ecology is balanced. Photosynthesis is only the beginning of the food chain. There are many types of animals that will eat the products of the photosynthesis process. Examples are deer eating shrub leaves, rabbits eating carrots, or worms eating grass. When these animals eat these plant products, food energy and organic compounds are transferred from the plants to the animals.

FOOD WEB
What if one of the consumer will remove?
It depends on what producers you're referring to. In some cases, producers in a community may be completely independent of the other organisms. But in most cases, the producers reside at the bottom trophic level, providing energy for the primary consumers, secondary consumers, and on. Upon removal, the food web would collapse, causing extinction, migration, or possibly evolution. Think of it this way: all the different levels of organisms are stacked on top of each other as blocks. The primary producers would be the bottom block. Now remove that bottom block and suddenly the succeeding blocks are unstable and will then fall without the support of the producers.

Importance of food web

Food webs diagram the interaction of multiple food chains within a certain ecosystem, showing the mutual dependency of species and the natural balance of habitats that sustain animal and plant life.

Benefits
A food web benefits life science lessons on physical and behavioral adaptations of plants and animals by representing a pattern of consumption based upon natural survival attributes and instincts.
