PROCLAIM THE WORD, PROFESS THE FAITH This years celebration slated on January 21-27, 2013, with National Bible Sunday on the 27th, is based on the theme: May They Be One: Proclaim the Word, Profess the Faith. It is inspired by Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path, and 2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. This National Bible week is about celebrating the teachings of the bible, not only its teachings but also its history, and contents. It is how we live the word of the Almighty God and how we touch others by proclaiming it. The writer of Hebrews has given us a wonderful passage of Scripture in Hebrews 4 that sets forth for us the firm foundation of our faith which is Jesus. The writer tells us that Jesus is Our Great High Priest. The image of Jesus as our High Priest is used. The High Priest was the only one allowed to enter the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement to make intercession for the people, blood. Jesus is the very Son of God, God who became man. Jesus having died and rose again, ascended to heaven where He is our Great High Priest, personally interceding for us today. We need no earthly mediator, for we have Jesus! The faith we profess is focused on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. That is how the writer tells us about professing our faith.
