The Inspiration of

Sacred Scriptures
Truth is a very important value that we need
to practice in our personal life and especially
in our society. We live the value of truth when
we uphold honesty and sincerity in
everything we say and do.
Truth in our words is very necessary in our
communication because we desire to build-up
sincerity in our relationship with one another.
The value of truthfulness in words can only
come from one great source: the Word of God
proclaimed as the highest Truth. As young
Christians, how immersed are you with the
Word?
Proclamation of the Word of God

That is why we thank God constantly that

in receiving his message from us you took it,
not as the word of men, but as it truly is, the
word of God at work within you who believe.

1 Thessalonians 2:13
Learning from the Message

Receiving God's message. St. Paul is grateful

because the Thessalonians accepted his
preaching as a message from God and not as
a mere human communication.
Learning from the Message

The Word of God. The phrase "Word of God" may sound

simple but actually it has layers of meaning. The Hebrew
term for word is "dabar" which also means "event and
reality." Thus, the phrase "Word of God" can mean (1) the
events of salvation history as revealed to us; (2) the
proclamation of God's message especially through the
prophets and Jesus; (3) the person of Jesus who is the Word
of God; (4) the Christian message and preaching; (5) God's
general message to all men and women; (6) the Holy Bible.
Learning from the Message

At work within you who believe. Much honor is given to

the Bible. When it is read, we listen to it in humble and
prayerful silence. After the priest reads the Gospel, he even
kisses it. We just do not throw the holy book in a corner but
enthrone it in a special place at home. We draw words of
wisdom and inspiration from it who believe. It gives
direction to our lives. We even memorize its verses. We
believe that the Bible is not an ordinary human book. We
believe that the Bible is the Word of God.
