Literature: Rig Veda

The Rig-Veda was written between 1200-900BC. The Rig Veda is a collection of around 1,000 religious songs and poems. The songs and poems are praising Hindu gods and are even believed to be a building block of the Hindu religion. A Veda is simply a Hindu scripture and although there are other Vedas, the Rig Veda is the oldest of the Vedas. The Vedas were passed from generation to generation orally until they were written down around 300BC in the form we know them by today. The Rig Veda is considered to be the most important Veda. It was written by the Aryans in a very poetic style. The Rig Veda was important to the Aryan people because they used it as a tool to sing and praise their gods. When the Aryan people settled in India they brought their beliefs, such as the Rig Veda, with them. The Rig Veda was a main feature of the creation of Hinduism. It was essential to the Indian society because it was used in the development of their caste system.
