RALEIGH, N.C.the US Green Building Council North Carolina Chapter will host the 2nd annual Generation Green on April 20th at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. Generation Green showcases the talents and creativity of the next generation of North Carolina designers, builders and citizens. The event features displays from two competitions, the collegiate-level Natural Talent Design Competition and the K-12 Environmental Stewardship Competition. The Natural Talent Design Competition provides college and university students with an opportunity to design sustainable solutions to real-world building challenges. This year, USGBC NC partnered with the North Carolina Department of Transportation to provide a retrofit and reuse project challenge the new multi-modal Union Station in downtown Raleigh. Students will present their proposals to be judged by a panel of green design and transportation experts during Generation Green. The Environmental Stewardship Competition gives k-12 students the opportunity to access their schools environmental impacts and develop creative strategies for reducing that impact. The completion reflects the USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building certification, with award categories for energy efficiency, water efficiency, waste reduction, and indoor air quality. Student groups can also win special recognition for media campaigns and innovation. The projects and accomplishments of each school will be on display throughout Generation Green. The collegiate teams proposed designs for Union Station and the middle and high school students Environmental Stewardship projects will be on display at the museum throughout the day on Saturday, April 20th. An awards ceremony recognizing the work and accomplishments of both

competition participants will begin at 3:00 that afternoon. Generation Green is open to the public at no extra charge. Everyone is encouraged to attend. The NC Museum of Natural Sciences hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m..
