Members of Parliament (Remuneration) (Amendment) LAWS OF MALAYSIA Act A1244 MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT (REMUNERATION) (AMENDMENT) ACT 2005

An Act to amend the Members of Parliament (Remuneration) Act 1980.

ENACTED by the Parliament of Malaysia as follows:

Short title and commencement 1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Members of Parliament (Remuneration) (Amendment) Act 2005. (2) This Act is deemed to have come into operation on 1 January 2004.

Amendment of section 3 2. The Members of Parliament (Remuneration) Act 1980 [Act 237], which is referred to as the principal Act in this Act, is amended in section 3 (a) in subsection (1) (i) in paragraph (a), by substituting for the words three thousand seven hundred and thirty-eight ringgit and ninety sen the words four thousand one hundred and twelve ringgit and seventy-nine sen; and

(ii) in paragraph (b), by substituting for the words five thousand nine hundred and sixteen ringgit and ninety sen the words six thousand five hundred and eight ringgit and fifty-nine sen; and (b) in subsection (2), by substituting for the words three thousand four hundred and ninety-six ringgit and ninety sen the words three thousand eight hundred and fortysix ringgit and fifty-nine sen. Amendment of section 4 3. Section 4 of the principal Act is amended (a) in paragraphs (a) and (b), by substituting for the words twelve thousand nine hundred and twenty-seven ringgit and twenty sen the words fourteen thousand two hundred and nineteen ringgit and ninety-two sen; and (b) in paragraphs (c) and (d) , by substituting for the words eight thousand eight hundred the words nine thousand six hundred and eighty. Amendment of section 6 4. Section 6 of the principal Act is amended (a) in subsection (1) (i) in paragraph (a), by substituting for the words twenty thousand seven hundred and fifty-one ringgit and fifty sen the words twenty-two thousand eight hundred and twenty-six ringgit and sixty-five sen; (ii) in paragraph (b), by substituting for the words sixteen thousand five hundred and sixteen ringgit and fifty sen the words eighteen thousand one hundred and sixty-eight ringgit and fifteen sen; (iii) in paragraph (c), by substituting for the words thirteen thousand five hundred and fifty-two ringgit the words fourteen thousand nine hundred and seven ringgit and twenty sen; (iv) in paragraph (d) , by substituting for the words nine thousand eight hundred and sixty-one ringgit and fifty sen the words ten thousand eight hundred and forty-seven ringgit and sixty-five sen; and

(v) in paragraph (e), by substituting for the words six thousand five hundred and thirty-four ringgit the words seven thousand one hundred and eightyseven ringgit and forty sen; (b) in subsection (3), by substituting for the words three thousand four hundred and ninety-six ringgit and ninety sen the words three thousand eight hundred and fortysix ringgit and fifty-nine sen; and (c) in subsection (4), by substituting for the words one thousand eight hundred and two ringgit and ninety sen the words one thousand nine hundred and eighty-three ringgit and nineteen sen. Payment of salaries and allowances notwithstanding section 7 5. Notwithstanding section 7 of the principal Act, the monthly salaries and allowances specified in the amendments to the principal Act in sections 2, 3 and 4, and payable, shall commence from 1 January 2004 or from the date of appointment or election, whichever is the later, of the Members of Parliament, the President or Deputy President of the Senate, the Speaker or Deputy Speakers of the House of Representatives, the Members of the Administration, the Leader or Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives or the Leader of the Opposition, as the case may be.
