5Fe2O4 Nanoparticles Obtained by Hydrothermal Process

Synthesis In this work, (NiZn)0.5Fe2O4 nanoparticulate was synthesized using metallic sulfates in aqueous media as precursors and NH4OH as precipitant. The obtained solution was hydrothermally treated in a Parr reactor at 25 atm and 175C for 20 hours. The precipitate was washed, centrifuged and dried at 80C.

Ferrites [1] are magnetic ceramics of great importance in the production of electronic components, since they reduce energy losses caused by induced currents acting as electric insulators.

Embedding and Ultramicrotomy For TEM analyses, the powder was embedded in an EpofixTM resin to form a block, which was molded to obtain a pyramid on its top. This sample was sectioned in nano-slices at room temperature of 40 nm of thickness using a diamond knife in an ultramicrotome (Leica UC6), which were put in TEM copper-grids.
