A large part of understanding numbers is being able to write numbers.

Students also need to know the correct spelling of numbers in order to share their understanding. Please use this activity to help your child master the correct spelling of words from 1-1000. Print out this document, and fold each of the pages in half lengthwise. Ask your child to spell each numeral (written or orally). Your child can then check their answer on the other side of the page. Challenge your child by giving them larger numbers with different numerals within each place value (i.e. "Spell 623 for me") Please note: There is no "and" between the hundreds and tens place. 345 is not Three hundred and forty-five. Please encourage your children to not include "and", but rather say and write it as "three hundred fortyfive."
