(July 30, 1863 April 7, 1947) was an American industrialist, the founder of the Ford Motor Company, and sponsor of the development of the assembly line technique of mass production. Ford did not invent the automobile, but he developed and manufactured the first automobile that many middle class Americans could afford to buy.

The August 12, 1908, the factory of the Ford Motor Company in the U.S. city of Detroit, founded five years ago by the industrialist Henry Ford, went on sale the first Ford Model T, a car for two people for the general public .

On the eve of the U.S. entry into World War I, and when the conflict was already widespread in Europe, Ford personally launched a campaign for peace as passionate as ridiculed by his opponents.

The dramatic decline in sales experienced during 1927 forced Ford to stop production of the Model T. Later that year went on sale the Ford A and soon after, in 1929, the amazing V-8, that restored some lost ground. But the Ford Motor Company and is not the number one, because both General Motors (with the famous Chevvy)

In 1956, seven million shares of Ford Motor Company went on sale, ending the absolute control exercised by Ford. Much of the profits generated by the company now goes to the Ford Foundation, created in 1936 and subsequently strengthened by the legacies left by Henry Ford himself
