Featured Speakers The 2013 Silicon Valley DECA Leadership and Competitive Excellence Conference will have a powerful lineup of speakers and presenters. Featured among them will be two dynamic speakers who bring a wealth of experience and knowledge. Jill Esplin has a passion for leadership and energy that is infectious. She has the ability to relate authentically and personally to diverse types of people both students and adults and delivers dynamic programs that are infused with enthusiasm, interactive activities, and inspirational stories. Before Jill became a speaker, she was working in Hollywood as a publicist and left the entertainment industry to pursue her lifelong dream of working with teens. Since 2004, Jill has been a professional speaker and works with individuals across the nation and internationally. She enjoys traveling and reaching out to people of all geographic, socioeconomic and diverse backgrounds. Millions of people from around the world have heard Chef Jeff Henderson's extraordinary life story on Oprah, how he transformed himself from a prison dishwasher to award winning chef and New York Times bestselling author of his memoir COOKED. Jeff addresses thousands of people each year from Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, government agencies, non-profit, civic and trade groups, hospitality and food service providers, colleges and universities, public schools and correctional facilities. Chef Jeff demonstrates how natural talents, once recognized and transformed, can inspire your leadership and help them transform the landscape of the workplace. Conference Features The Conference will focus on helping Silicon Valley DECA achieve our 2020 Program Goals: 20 Chapters, 20 DECA ICDC Top Three wins and 2,020 members by 2014! This means we need to assemble the best and brightest of Silicon Valley, present an exciting and innovative conference and execute our program with excellence and vigor as we return to our chapters. Our conference will begin with our Leadership Development program on Friday evening. Think senior leadership academy, just better. All students attending the conference will take the DECA Knowledge Test. Please download the DECA Knowledge Guide from the California DECA website at http://californiadeca.org/resources_stateLevel.php. Saturday is devoted to competitive excellence and the professional development of both students and adults. The afternoon will be non-traditional workshops addressing the Marketing of Financial Services, Hospitality, and Entrepreneurship. Since you will have worked hard during the day, after dinner on your own, we will play hard at our first Silicon Valley DECA Dance and Festival.
