Do
• Defrag occasionally. Defragment your hard
disk to ensure that files are optimised such
that each is stored continuously across the
disk surfaces and not fragmented
• Run Scandisk regularly to check the
condition of your hard disk and if
necessary make repairs
• Use windows task manager to stop
unresponding programs
• Automatic schedule task to check your disk
for error
• Contact a vendor if there is bad sector
Don’t
• Always run Scandisk with the option to
scan the disk surface for errors
• Terminate Scandisk prematurely when
your PC did not shutdown properly
• Switch off your PC while defragment is
in progress
• Switch off your PC while Scandisk is
running
• Simply copy a files without knowing the
folder contents
