Fish Bowl d. Notes e. Unit Packet f. Exit Slip/ Study Guide Questions

Activities/Strategies: A. Good Things B. Warm up C. Students will be handed a sheet titled opinionnaire. On a separate piece of paper they are to write an opinion for each of the 5 statements. They must write one opinion that agrees with the statement and a second opinion that disagrees with the statement. D. Fish Bowl Activity will occur. E. The middle of the room will have two seats. I will start off by reading the statement aloud. The student will come to the middle and either agree or disagree with that statement. Another student will go off of the previous statement. F. Student will either explain why they agree, disagree, or ask a question. G. Each statement will be given a 4 minute period. Then we will move on to the next statement H. Students must perform in 3 of 5 statements. I. When the activity is done, students will be able to jot down notes from that activity. This may include different perspectives they had not thought of yet or add to their own. J. Students will then take notes from a 10 minute lecture. K. Students will then complete page 23 in their unit packet.

L. As an exit slip, students will write a few sentences about 1 opinionnaire question. They are to compare what the learned from the notes or from page 23 in their unit packet to one of the opinionnaire statements. a. Does your opinion agree with the Text interpretation of Peter the Great, Ivan, or Catherine? b. Why or why not? c. Does your opinion change after reading the text or taking notes? Why or why not? M. Students will have the remaining class time to complete study guide questions. Closure: A. Exit Slip asking the following: B. As an exit slip, students will write a few sentences about 1 opinionnaire question. They are to compare what the learned from the notes or from page 23 in their unit packet to one of the opinionnaire statements. a.
