Exam 3 # 1 Study GuideThese questions are not test questions.

However, they act as a guide on what content to study and know for this exam. If you can answer these questions completely and accurately you will do well on the exam. I recommend writing the answers on another sheet of paper, then quizzing yourself and your peers using these questions. 1. What are the 3 components of Cell Theory? 2. Which organelles are only found in Prokaryotic cells? 3. What organelles are found in both Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells? 4. What organelles are found in both Plant cells and Prokaryotic cells? 5. What organelles are found in both Plant and Animal cells? 6. What organelles are only found in Plant Cells? 7. What organelles are only found in Animal cells? 8. What is the stain in a wet mount slide used for? 9. On the test you will need to be able to label organelles on a diagram of a Plant and an Animal cell. I recommend you study some cell diagrams like the ones on Pg 74 of the Green Biology book. 10. Know and be able to identify the functions of these organelles: Nucleus, Lysosome, Ribosome, Centriole, Golgi Apparatus, Cell Membrane, Mitochondria, Rough E.R., Smooth E.R., Cell Wall, and Chloroplast I recommend you make flash cards of these and their functions. 11. What is the Function of the Proteins in the Cell Membrane? 12. What is the Function of the Cholesterol in the Cell Membrane? 13. What is the Function of Phospholipids in the Cell Membrane? 14. What do the terms Hydrophobic and Hydrophilic refer to? 15. How can you use the terms Hydrophilic and Hydrophobic to describe the Phospholipids? 16. What is Semi-permeable?

Cytoplasm,

17. What do the terms Hypertonic, Hypotonic and Isotonic mean? 18. Define Diffusion. 19. Define Osmosis. 20. What is Facilitated diffusion? If you need additional self quiz material. Please use the Interactive Review and Chapter Assessment on Pgs. 94 and 95 in the Green Bio Book. Or the self quiz on pg 72 and 89 in the Brown Bio Book.
