HEADNURSING - STUDENT

STUDENT HEAD NURSE UNDER DIRECTION, RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ADMINISTRATION AND SUPERVISION OF A PARTICULAR NURSING UNIT.

Make patient rounds and sees to it that all patients in her ward get the necessary care. Sees to it that all equipment are in order and properly kept and supplies are available.

Makes weekly schedules and daily assignment of her staff. Checks and counter signs recording done by the staff nurses.

Assists the clinical instructor, prepares students assignments for their clinical experiences and assists in the evaluation of their performance. Sees to it that doctors order are carried out properly and intelligently by the staff.

Plans and supervises all nursing activities in her ward. Evaluates performance of his staff every week.

coordinates ward activities in the administration of nursing service with all other hospital services. Directs and supervises activities of non professional workers in the ward.

Participates in the orientation of new staff and nursing students. Interprets hospital philosophy, objectives and policy to staff, patient and their families and students.

Represents her ward in the nursing service meetings and other hospital meetings when necessary. Acts as supervising nurse when so delegated.

Renders direct nursing care if the unit is understaffed. Supervise cleanliness and orderliness of the ward, provides adequate facilities, equipment and supplies necessary for good patient care for her unit.

Provides environment that is conducive to physical, spiritual and emotional well being of patients and personnel. Participates in formulating/interpreting/implementing philosophy, objectives and policies of the nursing service.

Establishes, promotes and maintain good interpersonal relationship. Identifies nursing problem in the ward.

Acts as liaison between patient and members of the health team. Evaluates nursing staff in her unit, and gives them assignments according to their capacity.

Student Staff Nurse UNDER SUPERVISION, RESPONSIBLE FOR DELIVERING NURSING CARE TO THE PATIENT WITHIN AN ASSIGNED AREA.

Give direct nursing care. Identifies nursing need of the patient.

Plans, gives and evaluates nursing care. Admits patient.

Performs nursing activities such as bathing and oral hygiene. Assists patient in moving, maintaining proper alignment of patients body and utilizing body mechanics.

Takes and record vital signs. Observes medical sepsis.

Observes signs and symptoms, institute remedial actions when appropriate and records these in her chart. Reports observation to the physician.

Observes and responds to patients emotional spiritual needs. Acts as liaison between patients and hospital personnels.

Interprets to the patient and his family their roles in promoting successful therapy and rehabilitation. Prepares patient for, and assists physician within diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.

Carries out doctors legal orders. Assist physician when examining patients.

Performs irrigations, catheterization and gives medications. Administers and charts medications and patients reactions to medications.

Instructs patient and families. Sees to it that equipment receives proper care and maintenance.

Discharges patients. Performs post mortem care. Teaches and directs non professional nursing personnel.
