Terry Fox A Courageous Canadian

Terry Fox was a very inspirational person. He had a lot of courage ecause he ran a marathon every day to raise money for cancer research and even stopped to swim with a little oy that had the same pro lem as him. He ran !" miles a day and continued with a hop s#ipping motion across " provinces. At the hospital he felt sorry for the people with the same pro lem as him especially the children. $hen he learned he had cancer and would lose his leg% he resolved to do something to help other cancer victims. Terry Fox &aised " million dollars for cancer research. Terry Fox found out that his cancer spread to his lungs and his rain and then he wasn't a le to run any more. He felt ad that he could not finish the rest of the run to raise money for cancer. Terry Fox was the oy who never gave up. His short life was devoted to achieving his goals. A telethon was organi*ed after and he raised " million dollars .He ran for +,- days and .%-/- #illometers which eventually cost him his life due to the spread of his cancer. He ran very hard even though he had chest pain and reathing pro lems. His effort made a world wide legacy. The annual 0Terry Fox &un1 was first held in +23+ and has involved more then millions of participants in over "4 countries and over .44 million has een raised in his name. Today it is the world5s largest one day fundraiser for cancer research. Fox hoped to raise one dollar for each of Canada5s !, million people. He started in 6t John5s% Newfoundland% where he dipped his leg into the Atlantic (cean and started his Marathon of Hope. He ran the e7uivalent of a full marathon everyday. 8y the time he reached (ntario% he was a national star. He made pu lic appearances with usiness men% athletes% and politicians to raise money for his effort. He said% 095m gonna do my very est% 95ll fight% 9 promise 9 won5t give up.1 He ended his run )ust outside of Thunder 8ay when his cancer spread to his lungs and died 2 months later.
