Flour Tortillas Makes 8 tortillas 4 cups of flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp.

1 Mix flour& salt& ' baking powder in a large medium large bowl. Make sure your bowl is big enoug# to accommodate all your ingredients ! (ut in s#ortening lard until lumps are gone. )se a pastry cutter or fork* don+t work t#e doug# too muc#. , Make a #ole in t#e center of t#e dry ingredients. 4 -dd water& about a #alf a cup at a time& and work mixture into a doug#. . /nead until smoot#. T#e doug# s#ould be slig#tly sticky but not #ard. 0ou can add slig#tly more water or flour if needed. 1 (o"er and set aside for 12 minutes. T#is will let t#e baking powder work t#e doug# into a fluffier tortilla mix. 3 Make t#e doug# into balls about t#e si4e of eggs. 8 )sing a rolling pin& roll eac# doug# ball into about a 1 inc# circle. Flour your work surface before you roll t#e tortillas. 5 6eat griddle or skillet on medium #eat. 0ou can apply a little bit of oil& grease& or lard& or you can go wit#out.
