Camera shots

Here is a over the shoulder shot from one of the characters focusing on the other two characters which seem to be standing in a doorway. From t his you can see how the characters are positioned and what's around them from almost a 180 degree view.

Here is a long shot were you can see the 2 different characters in the same shot, also it is a establishing shot as you can see the background as it's a street and gives you knowledge of where they are. From this it allows alot more mise on scene which can be added for the audience.

Here is a medium shot of the two characters standing shoulder to shoulder. This is good because it fits them both in showing more about what's happening and the relationship the two characters share.

Here is a close up shot of two characters focusing mainly on their faces. This is good and effective because it show a strong emphasis of emotion and can help the audience to acknowledge what's going on.

Editing

At the start of the trailer it shows the two production companies straight away informing the audience on who helped and produced the film.

Near the end it shows the last cut of the trailer which then has intertitles which come over the picture and informs the viewer of what else the production company has produced and naming popular films like love actually and Notting hill.

Also throughout the clip it has flashes of numerous intertitles which add questions directly addressed at the reader to read and majority of the time think and reflect on the question they ask in comparison to what's happening in the trailer.

Here is part of the trailer were Domhnall practices his powers and rewinds time, you see a white flash in the clip and the action that was first played gets rewound then re-played out again.

Vladimir propp
The trailer last for 2 minutes and 32 seconds, in this time it had chance to let the audience establish at least 3 of Vladimir Propps theory on characters. The first and main being : Tim (Domhnall Gleeson) = the hero Mary (Rachel Mcadams) = the damsel in distress Tim's father (Bill Nighty) = the donor These are created and are used to help us understand the narrative.

Levi strauss
Brought the two opposites together Ugly guy and beautiful girl Shy ginger to confident man Fiction and none fiction

Tzvetan todorov
Followed all the steps in order Started peaceful as tom was quiet Learnt to go back in time Father then died and had to go back Repaired his marriage and had a baby

ideology
Has a system of set values and beliefs that ginger people are shy and timid. At the start of the clip Tom goes to kiss a girl then panics and ends up shaking her hand showing him living up to the stereotypes that people might have already assumed about him. Also the whole basis of a problem occurring in the love situation and that to get a happy ever after you need to fight for it. Once Tom does learn how to time travel however it does then subvert the stereotype and he becomes more powerful. Based upon a dominant ideology of marriage and family values of son and father and husband and wife

connotation
The connotations for about time is that Tom is so strong willed and loving that he fought for the girl he loved but risked everything to save the life of his father. From the way he acts and the presentation he is given in the clip shows him to be a very sympathetic and big hearted and all his life he has struggles but now unlocked the power to beat that.

Denotation
Denotation is a translation of a sign to its meaning, more exactly, to its literal meaning. Denotation is sometimes contrasted to connotation, which translates a sign to meanings associated with it. Some examples for this in about time might be the way Tom is ginger and will be instantly stereotyped. To people who are ginger might affect them a lot more and be more of a symbol to them rather than if someone who was not.

cinematography
The cinematography of the film is very good the fact that he can time travel and the way its shot and then edited it is clear to the audience what's happening without confusing them. It uses a variety of camera angles and shots to help produce a good clip and show the film from different prospectuss.

Here is a POV (point of view) shot from were you see a character from another characters point of view, this is very effective as it engages the audience alot more and gives them a first view of what's happening.

Here is a mid shot and also a over the shoulder shot done very cleverly in one shot. This is very clever as you see a character from close but also one from along shot and can also establish some of the background and setting to help the viewer establish the mise on scene.

Key movie trailer elements

Here is a list of the Key elements of the Trailer that we are going to produce. We are going to create a checklist to facilitate our working process. The Trailer has to have the title either at the beginning or at the end. Big titles with special effects always make a good impact on the audience. It has to have a cliff-hanger at the end, so the audience will actually want to watch the movie, because they want to know the ending etc.

Usually fast editing makes a trailer very exciting, or good timed transition are a very important point.

Main aspects of a Trailer

The Trailer has to be very short although it has to contain a brief summary of the movie, and make you want to watch it.

Important things such as the characters should be filmed with a close up shot (or just as close as possible) so the audience is able to identify what they're seeing in this short time period of the clip and the less important things such as locations are often filmed with a shot where you can see the whole panorama, that tells briefly where the movie is going to play/ where the location(s) will be.

The Trailer has to have an introduction of the main character(s) and maybe other characters.

It has to contain different companies, such as producer, distributor, (exhibitor) etc.

It does not have to spoil the story! The Trailer has to be a brief summary of the movie, without revealing the ending nor the main story.
