Wood is a very useful material. It is hard. It is also rust resistant. We make
wood from trees. Furniture, doors, windows and many other useful are made of
wood.
There are different kinds of wood which are used for making different things. Teak is a
hard wood which is grown in India and Burma. It is yellowish brown. It contains oils
which make it resistant to water.
Some glues can not be used with teak. The oils in teak have a strong resistance to
glues. Teak can be cut easily if the tools are sharp. It is also tough and resistant to fire. It is
often used for making the decks of ships because of its toughness and resistance to
water.
It is also used for making good Furniture.

Different materials differ in their properties. Some materials break easily
when you squeeze them. Others are strong in compression. Some materials
don't break or stretch when pulled. They are strong intension. Sometimes,
when you strike a material with a hammer, it doesn't break but changes shape.
It is malleable. Some materials can be stretched without breaking. They are
very ductile.
