Lord Shiva The Destroyer in the Divine Trinity at the peak of the Hindu Pantheon, Lord Shiva's Divine

Lord Shiva is also called Neelkant - or the blue-throated one - after he swallowed the poison that was churned out of the Milky Ocean by the Devas and Asuras in the Quest for Amrit. Goddess Parvati, halted the poison at the Lord's neck thus preventing it from harming him further than turning his throat blue. Lord Shiva has a Cobra around his neck The same sage who cursed Lord Brahma cursed that Lord Shiva would always be worshipped separate from Parvati in the form of the Lingum never as an idol. The Shaivite sect of the Hindus beleive Lord Shiva to be the Supreme Being The Iyer sect of the Brahmin caste too worship Shiva first. Lorn Muruga or Lord Karthikeya/Subramanya, is Lord Shiva's eldest son and was born of six divine sparks generated by Shiva's third eye, transported by the Gods of Fire and Wind Agni and Vayu respectively - and the River Ganga who transformed them to six babies brought up by the keerthigais - stars/divine handmaidens and then transformed into a six headed boy by Lord Shiva when it was time to destroy the evil Asuras in war. Lord Muruga is the commander of the army of the Gods/Devas. Lord Ganesh, the remover of obstracles and God of Wisdom, is Lord Shiva's second son although he was formed of Chandan/sandalwood paste from the Goddess Parvati's body as a boy, he acquired the elephant head when he was revived after being beheaded by Lord Shiva's trishul, when Lord Ganesh tried to prevent Lord Shiva from entering the Goddess Parvati's abode. Lord Shiva's chant is Om Namah Shivaya. Of the Divivne Trinity the Lord Shiva is pleased easiest and thus grants boons easily to those who penance thinking of him.
