Teaching Demonstration Criteria Northern Lights

*Presentations should not last longer than 15 minutes and judges are permitted to let entrants know that they should wrap up if they reach 15 minutes. **Please remember that entrants are not expected to present an entire class but only a portion as time permits. ***Written document/handouts are not re uired and may be pro!ided orally.

Presentation Skills (8 pts): "ntrants seem at ease# speak clearly# and utili$e gestures to emphasi$e points. %n addition# entrants make good eye contact and engage the audience. Knowledge of Topic (8pts): "ntrants appear to ha!e a firm grasp of the topic at the le!el they ha!e documented &i.e. an entry'le!el class !s. a more ad!anced discussion(# and show no hesitation in their knowledge of the demonstrated skill. rgani!ational Str"ct"re (8pts): Presentation is logically organi$ed with a clear beginning# middle# and end. %f a techni ue is taught# there should be a clear starting and middle point with# at the !ery least# instructions pro!ided for project completion. Clarit# of $nstr"ction (8pts): "ntrants properly explain the topic# define all terms# and clarify techni ues so that a reasonable adult with little or no experience on the topic could gain new understanding. Doc"mentation (8pts): )ay be pro!ided orally as a part of the presentation or as an informational handout. *owe!er# highest marks should be gi!en for an entrant who pro!ides a basic amount of e!idence to back up their presentation. %erall $mpression (&' pts(): "ntrant pro!ides a well'rounded presentation and does an excellent job engaging the class and seems genuinely interested in the topic. +isual aids and handouts may add to ,o!erall impression.-
