Memorandum

To: BUS 209 Class Members, Secs. 3, 4, and 6 From: Wesley Lucas Date: Re: 8 November 2013 BUS 209 Agenda for Wednesday, November 13

Here is what is on our agenda for our next class meeting on Wednesday, November 13. BRING a draft of Assignment #6. This is your first draft of your individual analytical reports. You will be reading these aloud and discussing them with your group members. These are the individual reports you will write on your section of the group project. You should note that Assignment #6 is due on Friday, November 22. I dont mean to scare you, but its timeif you have not already begun to do soto develop a sense of urgency about completing your group projects. READ: U.S. SEC, How to Read a 10-K, available via Laulima under the Financial Performance and Corporate Governance subfolder. This is a good introduction as to what to look for in corporate 10-K forms. It is probably a good idea for all of you doing the financial performance sections to look at your companies 10-Ks just to see what issues, if any, have been reported either by the independent auditors or by the SEC. Damodaran, Aswath, Financial Statement Analysis. Available via Laulima. A brief overview of financial statement analysis. If you still have your ACC 201 texts, you may have better introductions to financial analysis in those texts, usually near the very end of the text. If not, try to borrow an ACC 201 text from a group member or a friend. Treat this Damodaran reading (its actually PowerPoint slides saved as a PDF) as a quick refresher to ACC 201. Three Models of Corporate Governance. Available via Laulima. This is a brief introduction to three of the principal modelsthe U.S., Japan, and Germanyof corporate governance. SACOM, Apple Fails in Its Responsibility to Monitor Suppliers. Available via Laulima under the CSR readings. Note how the Executive Summary SACOM actually cites Apples own Supplier Code of Conduct, and then claims that Apples behavior regarding its suppliers does not align with its stated code of conduct.
