Drifting Around the World For my Discourse Community Ethnography assignment, I will be talking about drifting and how

it affected people worldwide. I choose this topic because I fell in lo e with drifting when I saw Fast and Furious !. From then on, I knew I wanted to get in ol ed somehow because it looked really e"traordinary and fun. #here was something about making a car slide through corners that grabbed my attention from the moment I saw it. When I$ll write my ethnography assignment, I will gi e lots of background information on my topic as well as where it originated from. %ince it originated in &apan, my research will start there. I plan on gi ing modern professional dri ers insight on the e"perience of drifting. 'y friend %pencer, who currently attends (ascar #echnical Institute, will also gi e me information on how to work the clutch as well when to use the handbrake during our inter iew. )y now, this is second nature to me as well as common knowledge, but since I need to inter iew someone, I might as well do it with someone that knows what$s going on. 'y basic layout of the assignment will start with where drifting originated and how it progressed to other countries of the world, especially the *.%. From there I shall talk about the discourse community of drifting and the certain types of people who are interested in it. #hose people are generally gearheads like me and more than likely ha e a car that they drift with as well. #o drift, you need a lightweight, rear wheel dri e car, preferably with a manual transmission. When I would mention this in the final assignment, I will also pro ide information on performance cars that could handle the motorsport today. #he last thing I would include, besides the inter iew, would be #op+ear. #op+ear is a famous motoring show in the *.% and England that ha e three hosts who test the boundaries of cars. ,ne of the hosts in #op+ear is #anner Foust. I would include him in the Discourse Community of drifting because when he is not hosting a show or winning -.+ames gold medals, he is a professional rally dri er. #o be a rally dri er, you must be able to handle a car in any circumstance, including drifting. /esearch on #anner Foust would result in a lot of drifting insight and so that would be a big part of my conclusion to the Discourse Community Ethnography.
