Final Reflection Here we are at the end of our first English college course and what have we learned?

College is not what movies portrait it to be. It is hard to try to explain what went through my mind when I found myself staring at a blan word document nowing I would have to complete seven page paper. I probably thought I was idding myself if I tried to do it all in one day. !as it due the next day? "f course not. #et I new with each and every day there was a new assignment that needed to be done$ if not for English then another class. In high school% everything sort of balanced out. I would have &'( wee s to do a paper and in )ust happened that I had very little wor in my other classes. However% in college% you get very little brea s. *ll the professors thin that their class is the only one students ta e therefore the wor given is very difficult. +arrowing down my thoughts about the wor done in English% I would have to say that there were few times an abundance of wor was given without proper thought of the deadline. ,oo ing bac at all the wor I have done in English% there could be a significant amount of improvement that could be noted. -y writing% for instance% went from a high school student now it all.s point of you to a college researcher. +ow% I mean that in the most humble way possible. It even has been brought to my attention from my mother who helps at times when she can. /he student who thought seven pages were a lot was only there for the first few wee s of college. /hat student turned into a writer who thin s seven pages can be bro en into a page that can be written every day as well as revised until the assignment is due. * good example would be that I would never tal about myself in third person. +ow this transition has not been easy. High school for me was a bree0e because I read a lot. /hat helped a lot in English because it was easier to refer to

example from novels. I thin this !riting and In1uiry class has developed me into a better writer in more way that I can thin of. I now for sure that in other future classes I will not have any issues because of the experience I got in my first English college class. I would not change a thing about how this semester went% except maybe delay a few deadlines. /he biggest change that occurred in my writing would be my personal view. In high school% we did not have in class writings. *ll of our wor was scholarly research with no personal input. I felt as though I was stealing the thoughts of other writers and )ournalists with each and every paper. However% now I have been given the opportunity with my in class writing to express my thoughts on the given topic in any way I feel fit. I )ust hope next semester with my !riting and In1uiry II things will )ust as straight forward and continue to ma e me a better writer.
