Distribute the grains evenly in the indicator vessel by shaking it vigorously. Place a plate with electrodes on the overhead projector. Place the indicator vessel in the middle of the plate. Either transfer the charge from a rubbed PVC rod to a socket, while touching the other socket to drain off the induction charge, or connect a high-voltage power supply (max. 10 kV from 100 A output).
