• On 18-08-09, 30 suspected H1N1 cases were identified in the District. • Out of total 30, 25 patients were identified from District Civil hospital and 5 are from KLE hospital. • Samples have been sent to NIMHANS Bangalore, the same day. • Till today, results of only 23 samples have been received and out of these two are tested positive for Influenza A H1N1. • The district health authority has taken all the measures to control the spread of the disease. • 17 screening teams have been formulated in the district, 8 teams in Belgaum division and 9 in Chikkodi division. They started working since 10th August 2009. • Today, that is, on 18-08-2009, 5091 persons in Belgaum division and 2319 persons in Chikkodi division have been screened in all 17 sites. • A special H1N1 ward has been established in Belgaum civil hospital and all the CMOs of taluks are instructed to reserve a room exclusively for influenza A H1N1 • Extensive IEC activities are being carried out in the district • People are hereby advised not to fear • District has sufficient stock of Oseltamivir caps
