Job Overview
CEA stands for Certified Education Assistant, there job is to help one-on-one with special needs students. Also assist the classroom teacher with educating the other students and preparing individual educational programs and strategies. Mark students work and assist students with corrections and maintain records. Supervise students during classroom period, playground sessions, lunch breaks, physical education and field trips. Assist students about personal hygiene and meal times. Be able to work with blind or deaf students. Encourage students and be a positive role model.

Working Conditions
Wear school appropriate clothing also be able to wear school uniform if needed. Work full time in a school setting five days a week. Put in your own time setting up activities for students to do.

Salary
CEAs make an annual salary of about $30,000 earning about $21.00 an hour.

It is a 447-hour program to earn your Education Assistant Certificate and get higher then 60% in all of the classes at the Okanagan College.

2013-14: $3,633.00 not including books and other fees.

Pre-requisites of Program
To be accepted you have to have over 60% in English 12 also be older then 19.

Why am I interested
I am interested in becoming a CEA because I love helping people and I know in school what it is like to struggle in learning and having someone help you one-on-one helped me a lot. I hope that if I become a CEA that I can help other students who are behind or struggling become better at school and be more confident.
