Is drone warfare more dangerous, either morally/ethically or physically? Is war something that should not be mechanized? Do we need humans making the decisions? Would drone warfare lead to a desensitization of violence? Should it be something soldiers get to think about?

Topic 2: Civilian Casualties

Questions to Consider:

Are civilian casualties a necessary evil of warfare? Think of all war atrocities committed by the US, such as the Dresden bombings, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Were they necessary evils? Is what we did any worse than what Japan did to us?

Topic 3: War is a part of humanity

Questions to consider:

Does war have to be the norm? Is violence inherent? Would peaceful non-violence really solve anything?

Topic 4: Massacres as unintelligible

Questions to consider:

Is there really nothing intelligent to say about war? Why do you think Vonnegut would tell us there is nothing intelligent to say about a massacre in a piece of literature about a major war?
