Clare Paronich Reflection on 1st observed lesson For my observed lesson, I taught nouns, common and proper, to four-second

graders. T o of the four have I!P"s and the other t o are !nglish language learners. I made my lesson very interactive. I had the students read sentences aloud to the group and then have other students pic# out the nouns. I as#ed the students $uestions that challenged them appropriately for their grade level. I had my students search around the room and thin# of things in the school building that ere nouns. I li#ed this activity. The students ere or#ing together and discussing hat in the school could be a noun and they really seemed to en%oy the activity also. I had my students share ith each other hat they rote, hich I thin# is an effective strategy because it allo s me to assess them and the students learn to listen to each other. The final activity I had the students do as a flip chart here they searched for nouns in their Charlottes Web boo#. I did this activity to see if my students could recogni&e nouns and to incorporate hat they are reading into the grammar aspect of !'(. There ere a fe things in my lesson that could have been different. )hen e*plaining to the students hat nouns ere I should have said that nouns ere the names of a person, place, or thing. (lso, I should have assigned seats differently because t o of my little boys ho are easily distracted ere sitting ne*t to each other and it as very easy for them to distract each other. +o ever, I thin# the lesson ent very ell and I

thin# my ne*t ones ill only be better because I learn ne and effective teaching strategies everyday.
