Written to Cook County Board President and Board of Commissioners -
This letter asserts that the voting systems in use in Suburban Cook County and in Chicago are not legally certified. This letter is out second attempt to engage the Cook County Board of Commissioners to act to prevent further use of this illegal equipment and to act to assure that the voting systems in use in the Federal Primary and General Election in 2014 are legally compliant with Illinois Law, Cook County Laws and Rules, JCAR, and all related Federal Laws, especially but not exclusively, Part III of HAVA.
This Board has a budgetary, legal, and administrative role in the conduct of elections in Cook County.
Defend the Vote requests the Board investigate our claims that the equipment is not legally complaint and to validate or deny them. In addition, we ask the Cook County Board to allocate funds for the purchase of legally compliant election equipment and to arrange for the bidding process to begin to supply a legally complaint voting system before the 2014 elections.
