Stage 3: Learning Plan

Learning Activities:
Set Induction: Start a conversation with the class about why are laws
important?
Why do we have rules in the classroom
Why do we have laws in the real world?
Produce:
Class discussion on the importance of rules and laws
Take out the class rules and ask the students to explain why we have
each of the rules.
Read the book Rules and Laws
Discuss why laws have to be tailored to the environment? How are the
laws different from urban, suburban and rural communities?
Spilt the children up into their urban, suburban and rural communities.
Have the students creates laws that are appropriate for their unique
communities by filling out a graphic organizer.
Each group will create a poster with a list of 5-6 important laws
As a final activity have the students write a small paragraph on the
reasons why rules and laws are important.
Closure: Each group will present their laws and the reasoning behind them
Differentiation: The city group is the remedial group. Their worksheet for
creating laws has prompts provided. This gives them more support and
more guidance.
