As a facilitator you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this
module. You also need to keep track of the learners' progress while allowing them to
manage their own learning. Moreover, you are expected to encourage and assist the
learners as they do the tasks included in the module.
For the Learner:

LESSON
If you are designing a document and want it to look neat and readable, you
need to consider the spacing and lining of a text. To know better, here are the ways
on how to do it.

Line Spacing

In a paragraph, the space between each line that makes your text readable is
what we called line spacing. It can make your line spacing to be single-spaced,
double spaced, or you can customize it in any number you want. Those numbers will
reflect how much the line spacing will increase that is related to the size of the line.
In MS Word, the default line spacing is 1.15.

In the box below, you can see the difference of line spacing, wherein table 1
shows the single spacing, and table 2 shows double spacing.

Formatting Line Spacing

Here are the ways on how to format a line spacing:

1. First, select the text that you want to change or modify.

2. Then, under the Home tab, click the line and paragraph spacing drop-down
arrow. The different numbers will appear.

3. Once you choose the number of spacing that you want. The text will change.
Step 1 Step 2

Step 3

Paragraph Dialog Box: Line Spacing

When you click the Line and Spacing command, the options in formatting are
limited. To see additional options, you can go to the Paragraph Settings or Paragraph
Dialog Box. Just click the small icon at the lower-right side of the paragraph group.
You can also click the Line Spacing Options in the Line and Paragraph Spacing drop-
down arrow to see the paragraph settings.

Inline spacing section, you will see

the different options; single, 1.5 lines, or
double line spacing.

Using the At least option, it will

set the spacing to a minimum point
value.

Using the Exactly option, it will

set the spacing as an exact point value.
Using Multiple options, it will
set the spacing greater than double.
Paragraph Dialog Box: Paragraph Spacing

Just like line spacing where we can change the space between lines, in
paragraph spacing, you can also adjust the spacing before and after the paragraph.
This will be used to distinguish the headings and paragraphs. Here are the ways on
how to do it:
1. First, select the text that you
want to change or modify.

2. Then, under the Home tab,

click the line and paragraph
spacing drop-down arrow. You
can select Add Space Before
Paragraph or Add Space After
Paragraph.
3. Also, if you want to control the
amount of space you want in
your paragraph, you can go to
the paragraph dialog box, just
click the small icon at the
lower-right side of the
paragraph group.

In here, we select the Add

Space Before Paragraph as an
example. As you can see, the
paragraph changed.

Indenting Text
In MS Word, indenting a text is used to determine the start of a new
paragraph. It will also allow you to separate information. You can use the horizontal
ruler and tab key to set the indents.

In using the Tab key, first, place the insertion point at the beginning of your
paragraph that you want to indent.
Then, press the Tab key. This will create a ½ inch space and you will see it
moving at the ruler. The first paragraph will be indented.

Indent Markers
Indent markers can be seen on the left side of the horizontal ruler. Using this
you can control the indents of your paragraph to a place that you want. Indent
markers have different indenting options:

In First-line Indent Marker, it

will move the first-line indent
of your paragraph.

In the Hanging Indent

Marker, it will move the
hanging indent.

In left Indent Marker, both

first-line and hanging indent
moves at the same time.

Note: you can also customize the indention of your paragraph. Just go to the
paragraph Dialog box by clicking the small icon at the lower-right side of the
paragraph group.

Aligning of Paragraph

Alignment in MS Word will determine the appearance of the edge of your

paragraph. It consists of different options: left-aligned text, right-aligned text,
centered text, and justified text. To align your text, go to home tab on the paragraph
group.

The appearance of the paragraph using left-aligned text and right-aligned text:

Left-aligned Text Right-aligned Text

Centered Text Justified text
