Mr. George Smith Editor in-Chief Indiana Gazette 52 Main Street Indianapolis, Indiana 23142

Dear Mr. Smith I feel that the parents of Jessie Keyser should not be sent to jail. Jessie Keysers parents are decent people and should not be treated like dirt. I command freedom and justice of their rights. They come from a historical preserve called Clifton, and are living like the 1800s with no TV and no modern technology, like we use today. The children of Clifton are beginning to become sick with an illness called diphtheria. Jessies mother is a mid-wife that helps nurse the children back to health, but that does not work. Since the adults cannot escape Clifton, it is up to Jessie to bring the help Clifton needs. If time runs out for Jessie, the children of Clifton will soon die. The people living in Clifton had to wear dresses and pants, unlike modern-day jeans, shirts, and much more. In order to escape Clifton, Jessies parents sent her down a hole in the ground that goes to our world. Jessies parents cannot fit in their modern clothes, so Jessie has to wear jeans and shirt in order to fit in with the people of 20th century. When Jessie

finally escapes Clifton once and for all, she escapes the tourist site in a bread truck. Then she walks down a highway leading north to Indianapolis to meet Isaac Neeley, a man who does not think Clifton should be a tourist attraction. Jessies parents agreed to live in Clifton because they wanted to keep all six of their children safe. Jessies father rejects life in the 20th century because of the horrible things people can do, and I do not blame them. The only disadvantage for living in Clifton was Frank Lyle. Mr. Lyle was impersonating Isaac Neeley, who died six or five years ago and waited for people like Jessie to call. Mr. Lyle was planning to drug and kill Jessie because she knows too much about the 20th century. Mr. Lyles real mission was to close down Clifton and experiment on the people in order to create a stronger gene pool that would be able to resist diseases without the aid of medicine. If Jessies parents go to jail, then it would have a strong impact on their children. All six of their children would not be having a childhood with each other. If they go to jail, then each child will go to a foster home and live their lives without their parents. If they do not have their parents, then their lives will be much harder on their own. They might not survive the loss of their parents. Mr. and Mrs. Keyser tried to go help to save the children and did the only thing they could, send Jessie. It is not their fault that Clifton Village became a prison. Sincerely,
