1. Identify Yourself! a. Begin messages with a

greeting and end them with your name.

2. Include a Subject Line

a. Place a descriptive title in the subject box so the subject of the email is known.

3. Avoid Sarcasm
a. You do not want people to misinterpret what you are saying.

b. End the message with a signature that identifies you.

4. Respect Others Privacy

a. Always ask people before forwarding messages that they wrote

5. Acknowledge & Return Messages Promptly

a. Dont wait for days to respond to an e-mail if you have seen it

a. Dont copy your entire address book for all e-mails you send b. Include people that the message applies to a. Do not respond to chain e-mails or rumors.

a. Create messages that are short and to the point. b. Make messages that about one screen

a. You may use emoticons to show feeling in messages.

10. Use appropriate intensifiers to help convey meaning

a. Avoid using all caps to show feeling b. Use asterisks around words to indicate italics c. Use words in brackets to how a state of mind d. Use common acronyms

11. Use Appropriate Language

a. Avoid rough or rude language. b. Practice good grammar and spelling.
