Opening the Doors to China's Booming
Banking Industry
On December 11, 2006, China will officially
open its banking sector to foreign competitors.
To prepare for that day, the nation's banks are
purchasing new technologies from U.S.
companies. Currently the banks are looking for
Credit Analysis and Financial Planning and
Training Software, Operations and Information
Management Systems, Networking and
Security Solutions, Digital/voice/video
technology and wireless networks, and more.
At the inaugural meeting of the International
SIG, Ida Peng, a leading Financial Services
Specialist and a member of the Commercial
Service Office in Beijing, China, will explain the
opportunities that are available to U.S.
companies and provide tips on selling in the
Chinese market.
Come to this meeting and learn more about
China's banking sector and the wealth of
business opportunities that are available there.
This is a "brown bag luncheon." Some light
refreshments will be provided.

Profile: Angelina Hsiaoping Jao
Ms. Jao's broad experience with economic
development and global marketing has been
garnered from leading teams in both corporate
and entrepreneurial positions. After several
successful years in global data
telecommunications marketing and sales for
Global 100 telecom companies, Ms. Jao saw a
niche opportunity and founded TMGI, a
management consulting firm specializing in
global strategic business and economic
sustainable development (www.tmgi.us). TMGI
focuses upon developing integrated
communications platforms for international
clients, and has enjoyed significant growth in
recent years.
Ms. Jao's economic development, teaching, and
non-profit community work include
appointments as Instructor at the Graduate
Center, City University of New York (Marketing
and the Internet), Chairperson of the Global
Trade and Technology Center, Board of
Directors member and Services Committee
Chairperson of the Southwest Brooklyn
Economic Development Corporation, Chairperson
and Founder of the International Council of the
New York Software Industry Association,

Ms. Jao hails from Washington DC metro,
daughter of an elected regional business leader
and an award-winning published Professor of
Chinese Linguistics and Classics. Ms. Jao was a
Pre-Law major at the University of Wisconsin-
Madison, where she earned a B.A. in
International Relations, Political Science and
English. She has completed professional studies
in Information Technology at New York
University and Columbia University, and has an
M.S. in Policy Development/ Global Commerce

Ms. Jao is fluent in Mandarin Chinese, a

classically trained pianist and former amateur
bodybuilder and student of martial arts. Ms. Jao
is based in New York City and travels
frequently. She is the founder of a number of
international and regional social and professional
networking clubs.

Profile: Ida Peng

Ms. Peng Aiqun (Ida) is a Commercial Specialist
in the U.S. Commercial Service Beijing, China,
covering financial services industry. Since
joining the U.S. Commercial Service in 2002,
Ms. Peng has built up a comprehensive network
of Chinese financial institutions in both the
government and private sectors. Some of these
institutions include the People's Bank of China,
China Banking Regulatory Commission, Chinese
Ministry of Finance, National Development and
Reform Commission, Chinese Ministry of
Commerce, CCPIT, China Development Bank,
China Ex-Im Bank, Chinese 'big four' banks (i.e.
Bank of China, China Construction Bank,
Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and
Agricultural Bank of China), as well as Chinese
second-tier commercial banks, Chinese city
commercial banks and other financial institutions
and finance IT companies.

Over the past three years, Ms. Peng has helped

numerous U.S. financial IT and services
companies enter the China market, and has
written various market research reports on the
topics of the bankcard market in China, Chinese
banking system, Chinese leasing market and
trade & corporate finance in China etc.

Ms. Peng graduated with a MBA degree from

Cardiff University, U.K. Prior to joining the U.S.
Commercial Service, Ms. Peng had worked for
the British Council China for more than five
years as Project Officer, responsible for
educational projects.
