Title/topic/focus: What are Primary Sources and why are they good for research papers mini-lesson 1. The overarching purpose of this lesson is The !ig Picture": The purpose of this lesson is to show students what a good example of a primary source is. Its better to read/see/hear it straight from the horses mouth when finding information for a research paper. #. The essential learning goal for today is: tudents should be able to say! I will open with a PowerPoint discussing what Primary ources are and how to find them. )( minutes, Then we will watch a short clip on $nne 3ran2 and then I will pass out a pac2et to the students with an excerpt from The /iary of $nne 3ran2. )0456, In the pac2et! they will be as2ed a series of +uestions regarding what they read in the excerpt and why it is a primary source. $fterwards! we will ha*e a class discussion about it and why it was a primary source. )78 minutes, *. I will also 2now while were ha*ing a class discussion whether or not they understand primary sources.
