Analysis of Whole Class Data: Overall, I was pleased with the results of the post-assessment. As expected, students did not make high scores on the pre-assessment because they had little to no prior knowledge of the content being taught. After analyzing the results of the assessments, I have concluded that 68% of the class made improvements after participating in this unit. The other 32% of the class made the same score on both tests. There were no students who regressed during this unit, according to the data. Students made most gains toward the objective: Students will summarize changes that have occurred in their local community over time. This inference was made due to the number of students who answered the question related to that objective correctly. 17 out of 23 students answered this objectives question correctly. The students who only scored a 1 out of 6 on the post-assessment answered this question correctly.

Individual Student Evaluation High performing, low performing, average performing student Learning Objectives for this unit are: 1) Students will discuss and recognize the different features of urban, suburban, and rural areas of their local region. 2) Students will summarize changes that have occurred in their local community over time. Students will recognize changes in the way people used the land and made their living. 3) Students will recognize and discuss landforms, geographic features, and natural resources that are present in our local community.

High Performing: This individual student is a caucasian female. She is a high performing student in all aspects of the classroom. This student scored a 4 out of 6 (66%) on the pre-assessment and increased to a perfect score of 6 out of 6 (100%) on the post assessment. She understood the directions that were given for this assessment without needing repetition and participated in class discussions several times throughout this unit. This students attitude towards school work and responsibility is always a positive one. I believe that she made several gains from this unit solely because she payed close attention to the content, asked questions when necessary, and followed directions. Based off of the results of these two tests, I would infer that this student made several gains toward each learning objective involved in this unit. (See Attachment 6.1) Low Performing: This individual student is a hispanic male. He is a low performing student while completing most classroom assignments. Althought this student has potential to be a high-performing student, he has reoccuring behavioral problems. He has trouble paying attention during instruction, rarely follows directions, and shows signs of being defiant. This student scored a 1/6 (16%) on both the pre and post asessment. It is obvious that he did not follow directions when completing this assessment by analyzing the format in which he wrote the answers. When walking around to observe students completing this assessment, I noticed that this student had not completed all of the assessment. I repeated the questions for his table two times after reading the question the first time. However, he proceeded to turn in both test incomplete. Based off of the results of these two tests, I would infer that

this student did not make any gains toward the learning objectives involved in this unit. (See Attachment 6.2) Average Performing: This individual student is an african american male. He is usually an average performing student on most classroom assignments. This student participates in classroom discussion and follows directions well. It is obvious that he attempts to do his best work on all assessments and assignments in the classroom. He scored a 2 out of 6 (33%) on the pre assessment and a 6 out of 6 (100%) on the post assessment. Based off of the results of these two tests and observation in the classroom, I would infer that this student made tremendous progress toward the lesson objectives of this unit. He demonstrated his learning gains by scoring a perfect 6/6 on the post assessment. (See Attachment 6.3)

Importance of this Data: The information gained as a result of this data is highly important to direct further instruction. In a classroom with 20+ students, it is the teachers job to ensure that each students learning needs are met. By analyzing this data, as the teacher, I am able to see if students need more instruction on this particular content. I am able to break down the results and see which objectives need more elaboration. If a majority of the students scores would have decreased, I would assume that I need to make changes and try a different approach at teaching this unit. Because a majority of the students in this classroom made 2-3 point gains on the post-assessment, I have inferred that the stduents are ready to move forward after a quick review of this unit. It is essential that I analyze which students make little to no improvement so that I can determine how to reach these particular students.
