Greenhouse Effect

The greenhouse effect is when sunlight is absorbed by the

atmosphere and Earth but most is reflected away by the
clouds.
 Global Warming
• An increase in the average temperature of
the Earth’s atmosphere because of human
pollution causing the ozone layer to
deplete.
• This means less sunlight is reflected away
from the Earth.
 Human impact
Burning of fossil fuels = release of greenhouse
gasses (carbon dioxide, methane and water)
• Causes ozone depletion – more light radiation
reaches the Earth
– Melts Antarctica
– Changing ecosystem
