Jack Roady Announces Re-election bid as District Attorney Galveston Republican incumbent Jack Roady announced that he has formally filed the paperwork to seek another term as District Attorney in Galveston County. A career prosecutor, Jack has represented the state of Texas in thousands of cases from misdemeanor and felony trials to appellate litigation including death penalty cases. My vision at the District Attorneys office is simply to seek justice to do whats right in every case, Roady said. Since my election in 2010, weve seen higher conviction rates, lower dismissal rates, and better morale at the office. Additionally, I was able to work with Commissioners Court to obtain better salaries for experienced prosecutors to improve retention of our well-qualified attorneys. Roady took issue with recent statements by his primary challenger: We expect those who seek public office to be trustworthy, Roady said. His misrepresenting facts about the office whether from ignorance or deception reflects poorly on him from the outset. Still in his first term, Roady has already helped establish the first Veterans Treatment Court and the first Drug Court in Galveston County. He also created a Public Integrity Section to investigate and prosecute offenses committed by public officials. Like everyone else, Roady explained, those in authority should be held accountable for their actions, regardless of position or influence. Additionally, we have increased cooperation among law enforcement and prosecutors offices across the state, improving the reputation of the Office and saving Galveston County taxpayer money, Roady concluded.
