MiLisha Shackleford Gail Richard Composition I Reflection: Rhetorical Analysis October 9, 2013

When we were first assigned this paper, I was really iffy about it and I didnt think I would enjoy it at all. I thought of it as one of those things that I had to do. It was hard for me to figure out what to say in it. At the end, I was still feeling iffy but, I tried really hard. I like how I could pick out things easily and label them ethos, pathos, logos or kairos. I would change my paper by making it more formal and tweak the tone a little bit. The peer reviews helped me find out what information that I was missing and what I needed to elaborate on. The audience of my paper was my boss. I figured this out because the prompt said it. I had to change my tone because I am speaking to someone above me. This paper was different for me because usually when I am asked to write something, its something coming from me, such as the memoir we did. That paper contained all my emotions and thoughts about that situation. I also feel like the memoir opened up our minds in order for us to put it all down on paper and I really like that feeling. This paper you had to basically write on what you got from the letter itself and you had to make sure you gave very specific details to elaborate on it. Also, it changed the way I thought about that paper. I thought about what the writers really wanted to get to the audiences attention and that was the money. The tone had to

change from telling a story to talking to someone superior to you. I formatted my paper by basically labeling every paragraph with ethos, pathos or logos and just put kairos in wherever it was going to fit in. Writing this rhetorical analysis refreshed my mind on the right and wrongs of how to properly write letters. After, I refreshed my mind, I started picking out errors everywhere and it came quite fast. Analyzing a paper is something Ive never done before so, a lot of things got in the way like finding a good introduction and conclusion and finding out what to say in the paper. My peer reviews helped me out a lot because it let me know if I found a good introduction and conclusion. Also, it let me know if what I was saying was credible or not. All in all, the paper was an adventure and I think itll have a good outcome because I made a really good effort.
