8th Grade Disruption Data Weeks 1-8

Please see attached Disruption book for data collected throughout the semester.

MLE Reflection Megumi Hoshi Phase Three Sue Talbot MLE Reflection After reflecting the disruption book and looking at the data, it is clear that the intervention was successful! When collecting the baseline data and recognizing that for every minute of class, there was a disruption, it was definitely interfering with instruction time. When the intervention took place the first day, our goal for the week was 27 disruptions a class period. Currently, it is 4 disruptions per class period. We have come a long way with this intervention, and I am very happy with the way it turned out. Since the beginning of the semester, we made some changes to the MLE. During week 5, we changed the way the students get their reinforcement. Instead of meeting the goal five days, we changed it to five consecutive days. This helped the students become more accountable for their disruptions in class. In addition, we also made a new rule in week 6 that if an individual student gets 10 or more disruptions, they will have to serve a lunch detention to participate in their reinforcement if the other students were able to get it. Often times, there was an individual student that had all of the disruptions. Many of the students felt cheated by this so that is why we changed the rule for serving lunch detentions. If the student does not serve the lunch detention, they will not be able to participate in the class reward (if they were able to get it.)

The reinforcements were chosen based on a survey we did in the beginning of the intervention. Within the past semester, the students have met their goal a total of 9 times this semester! In addition, the goal of disruptions changed weekly by calculating the weeks average of disruptions. This system seemed to work very well and there has been a significant decrease with disruptions. Overall, I am very happy with my intervention. It has been such a great experience working with my cooperating teacher. She has supported me with this MLE from day one and without her support; it would have not been this successful. The students are learning so much more now, and it has been such an amazing thing to see!
