The process by which jewelry is manufactured can be divided into the following stages:

MANUAL DESIGN CAD MANUFACTURING

The manual or CAT designing is provided by independent designers, whereas the manufacturing takes place at sites called manufacturing houses. The detailed process is illustrated by the following flowchart:
METAL (INDIVIDUAL PIECES) DESIGNING RAPID PROTOTYPE (RP) WAX/PLASTIC Provides an estimate of the weight of the finished piece and the cost of manufacturing the finished piece.

RUBBER MOLD OF RP

USE THE RUBBER CAST TO MAKE SILVER JEWELRY

WASHING Cleans the residue off the silver piece, cleans out any holes and cuts any excess material.

LAPIDARY Stones are cut to their right shapes and sizes to fit the silver piece.

FINISHING/STONE SETTING MAY BE PROVIDED BY THE MANUFACTURING HOUSE OR BY INDIVIDUAL CRAFTSMEN
