Dear epal Its probably around the time that you usually celebrate your winter holiday, and

I would like to tell you about mine. This year, the holiday I celebrate was not even in winter! I celebrate Hanukkah, which is similar and different compared to Christmas. It is a Jewish holiday. There are eight nights of Hanukkah, and the first night fell on the night before Thanksgiving, a fall holiday about giving thanks to what you have. On the second night of Hanukkah, we had a thanksgiving party. I stayed in my room with my friends most of the time playing the Sims 3, which is a computer game I got as a gift for Hanukkah. Each night, you open a present. Sometimes I got two presents because I had one from my parents, and one from my other family. We also play a game called dreidel. A dreidel is a top with four hebrew letters on the side. If you get certain letters, you get a certain amount of chocolate coins, called gelt. Another thing I like about Hanukkah is the latkes. Latkes are like hash browns, a potato pancake. Most of the time, you dip them in applesauce and sour cream for flavor. We decorate our living room with blue and white lights, and snowmen figures. We even have a little town made out of houses and little people on a cabinet. The traditional colors for Hanukkah are blue, silver, and gold. I hope you enjoyed learning about my holiday Sincerely, your epal Sophie
