Lesson: Fairness Grade: 4th Time: 30 minutes Materials: -A Fish Tale Fable -story and questions -Fair Statement?

worksheet (p.27) -Judging Fairness group workout sheet (p.24) Procedure: -Group discussion using Judging Fairness group workout questions -Put students into groups of 4 and pass out the Fair Statement worksheet. Have the students decide as a group if they agree or disagree with each statement. Increase the challenge by telling students that they must reach a consensus (explain what that means). -Discuss what decisions the group came to, and how they reached them. Tally the results. Most likely not every group will arrive at the same judgment about each statement. Lead students to conclude that fairness itself is a judgment based on personal experience and opinion.
