to the cell phone, a palm sized device which lets you call, text and use social media on the go. With its great mobility advantages, people abuse it by texting while driving their vehicles. Because of this, it has caused great amount of drivers who are constantly distracted by text messages and phone calls. The majority of the people who get into texting related accidents are teens between the age 18-20 because they are always connected to the social loop. In 2011, nearly 23% of all car collisions was because people were preoccupied with their cell phones, that's nearly 1.3 million crashes! Researchers have said that texting increases the risk of crash by 23 times, than by dialing which is 2.8 times, talking which is 1.3 times and reaching for the device which is 1.4 times. Young people are completely confident that they won't get into a crash while texting because they have "good driving skills". While some of them say its easier for them to text while driving, but while doing so, they are always outside of their lane. They justify it by saying that they only text at stop lights or that they hold phone up to windshield to get better "visibility". The institute for Hwy Safety states that there is nearly 11 teen deaths every day due to texting while driving and there are 1,600,000 accidents per year.
